Founded over thirty years ago, the purpose of The Natural Step International is to accelerate the transition towards a truly sustainable global society. The organisation aims to do this by supporting its members who will engage individuals and organizations to take concrete action towards, and beyond, ecological, social, and economic sustainability.

With offices in a number of countries across the globe, The Natural Step’s underlying premise is a scientific, systemic and strategic approach to achieving sustainability as codified in their ‘Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development’, which focuses on empowering interested people to become effective change agents for sustainability, creating future-fit organisations and role models for sustainable business and communities, and facilitating systems change towards future-fitness.
